Junior Ranger Program for 6-10 year olds

‘WATTLE WADDLE’

Monday 25th September
Wednesday 27th September
Thursday 5th October 2017

Two sessions each day:
Session 1: 9.30am – midday
Session 2: 1.00 – 3.30pm
Cost: $18.50

What’s in that Wattle?

The blooming yellow flowers of our indigenous wattle trees signal to us that Spring is on it’s way. What else can we learn from these important plants? Which animals use them for protection from predators? Which animals view them as the local lolly shop?

Join Ranger Fi on a ‘wattle waddle’ where we’ll ask “What wattle is this?” and ‘What wattle is that?” and will discover some of the many tales – and tails! – this Australian icon beholds.

We’ll be out in the Wildlife Sanctuary for lots of exploring and hands-on activities plus you’ll get to craft and take home your own little wattle plant to care for.

  • Drop off at the Visitors Centre, returning at the end of the program.
  • Parents/carers do not stay with the children during the program.
  • Clothing appropriate to the weather and closed shoes to be worn.
  • BYO snack and drink in a backpack.

Please advise staff if your child is at risk of Anaphylaxis.

SPRING SPOTLIGHT WALKS (all ages)

Monday 25th September
Tuesday 26th September
Wednesday 27th September

Wednesday 4th October
Thursday 5th October

Time: 7.30pm – 9.00pm
Cost: $15 Adult, $12 Child/Concession

With so much of our native wildlife coming out after dark, a guided spotlight walk is the best way to view them in their natural surroundings. These walks are a combination of spotlighting for nocturnal animals, learning about their environment and enjoying the wonders of the bush at night. Some of the animals that may be seen include kangaroos, wallabies, possums, sugar-gliders, koalas and insect-eating micro-bats.

  • Meet at the Visitors Centre.
  • Please wear clothing appropriate to the weather including closed shoes.
  • BYO small torch.

Why not enjoy a picnic or BBQ prior to the walk? Electric BBQs in the Visitors Centre picnic area are free to use.

Booking and pre-payment is essential:  BOOK HERE

Walks are cancelled when wind strength is at and above 35 kph. These will be rescheduled or a refund provided. Sessions will proceed unless otherwise notified by Park Management. Tickets are non-refundable unless cancelled by staff.
