Mum’s Word Review
I have a Miss 2.5 & Mr 7 months – a handful at the best of times! So being able to sit & have a relaxing coffee is rare. A girlfriend (also with 2 kiddies) and I went to Angus & Rose at The Briar the other day just to get out of the house. What a treasure of a find it is – I have been back twice within 5 days!
Angus & Rose is a rustic old barn type venue that stocks pretty handmade gifts, cards & books, along with coffee, cake & a tray of drink and goodies for the kids.
The tables inside have paper covering them for drawing on & outside there is a gorgeous area with a sandpit, heaps of toys & tables. There is also a gate for keeping the little ones in so they can run around the available fenced space. Susan, I think who it the owner, was also amazing with our kids – nothing was too much trouble at all.
The first time we went, we had the place to ourselves (it was during the week). On my other visits, I found that even though it is small, it does not seem crowded with other people present. My coffee came in a mug (not a perfect coffee), but the cake and atmosphere completely made up for it. The coffee, served with two generous slices of cake was only $10.
After an hour of our kids being happily occupied and the mummies enjoying the pretty surroundings, we had a little walk to the visitor centre to see the wildlife display. We also had the option of a nature walk, but unfortunately the weather went sour.
In summary I would say, great little venue & service, perfect to keep young kids entertained for hours, reasonable price, average coffee. A real treasure of a find.
