The Resilience Project is addressing children’s mental health with a high-energy kids’ show tour, led by presenter Martin Heppell, across Victoria over Term 3 School Holidays this September and October.
With 1 in 4 primary students and 1 in 3 secondary students reporting high levels of anxiety, depression, or both, the need to support young people’s mental wellbeing has never been greater.
The Resilience Project is on a mission to change these statistics, returning for another year of the beloved Victorian kids’ show, 3 Happy Tricks. This engaging show teaches primary school-aged children and their parents practical mental wellbeing strategies through music, storytelling, and fun.
Martin Heppell, partner and lead facilitator at The Resilience Project is known for his high -energy and impactful stage delivery, driven by his passion for ensuring every kid knows they’re supported and that they belong.
“These shows are so important to me because I want every kid to know that they’re unreal just the way they are,” says Heppell. “My job when I’m up on stage is to let the kids know that there are things they can do when it gets rocky, to maintain their self-esteem, self-efficacy, and their belief in themselves as a person. There’s nothing better than seeing the adults connecting with their kids during the show, when they hug each other, when they laugh together.”
The Resilience Project is one of Australia’s leading Mental Health prevention organisations, having reached over a million people with their message of practicing gratitude, empathy and mindfulness (affectionately known as GEM).
“Kids have so many different challenges to navigate in today’s world and combine this with the difficulties of the last couple of years, it’s no wonder we are seeing such confronting statistics about our children’s mental health,” says Hugh van Cuylenburg, The Resilience Project’s founder, award-winning podcaster, and best-selling author.
“Martin is unbelievable, there is no-one like him! I couldn’t think of anyone better to help kids and their parents understand how much fun they can have looking after their mental health!” Hugh continued.
These shows are a great school holiday activity for families across the state to learn how to incorporate GEM into their daily routine and have fun while doing it.
