Find a solution to a problem that matters to you
All good inventions start with a problem, big or small. Itβs your task as an inventor to solve this problem. But how do you identify a problem in the first place? Think about something that makes you frustrated and see if thereβs a way you can make it not frustrate you. To solve your frustrations you could invent something completely new or improve something already in existence.
Follow your passion and curiosity
Creativity can be sparked by doing what you love and exploring a topic that youβre passionate about. When looking for something to invent or a problem to solve, think about what makes you smile. It could be sport, an animal or perhaps music. By picking something that you really like, youβll be passionate about coming up with solutions to make it better.
Look outside for inspiration
If youβre having trouble coming up with ideas for inventions or youβve hit a roadblock, step outside and go for a walkβ¦ you might just stumble across a problem to be solved or have a breakthrough invention moment. Getting outside of your comfort zone and exploring is a great way to spark creativity.
Never give up
Facing challenges and hurdles is all part of the invention process, so if something doesnβt work, donβt give up β keep on pushing and coming up with creative ideas. Remember, every attempt you make will bring you closer to getting it right!
Share your idea
Talking about your idea out loud and seeking feedback is an important part of being an inventor. Chatting to your friends and family is a great way to workshop your creative ideas and questions. You never know, they might have some fresh thoughts that could help improve your idea or they might have a problem they need you to solve.
