This summer, McClelland is set to become a destination where creativity meets the great outdoors. Surrounded by beautiful bushland and striking sculpture trails, the gallery invites families to immerse themselves in a world of imagination, discovery, and hands-on fun. Whether children are budding artists, curious explorers, or passionate animal lovers, McClelland’s children’s programming promises experiences that spark joy and inspire wonder.
In partnership with NGV Kids, McClelland will host Nature and Us: Olaf Breuning for Kids, an engaging program that introduces young visitors to art and the environment through interactive workshops. These drop-in sessions encourage children to express themselves creatively while connecting with nature in meaningful ways. Workshops will run on Thursday 15 January and Friday 16 January from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, with no bookings required. Families are encouraged to simply bring their curiosity and a sense of adventure. More details can be found via NGV Kids or on social media @ngvmelbourne #NGV #NGVKids.
For animal enthusiasts, Funky Farm returns with its popular wildlife experience. These interactive talks give children and families the chance to meet fascinating creatures and learn about their habitats in an engaging and memorable way. Sessions will take place on Wednesday 14 January, and Friday 23 January at 10:30 am. Bookings are essential for Funky Farm events and can be made through McClelland’s Events Page.
Parents and carers should note that children must be accompanied during all activities. While visiting, families can also enjoy McClelland’s sculpture park, relax with a picnic under the gum trees, or stop by Harry’s cafe for a coffee. With its unique blend of art and nature, McClelland offers the perfect setting for a memorable family day out.
Visitors are encouraged to keep an eye on McClelland’s Events Page for further updates throughout the season. This summer promises creativity, learning, and fun for all ages at McClelland.
