As a maritime aid to navigation and first illuminated on 30 June 1859, the historic Cape Schanck Lighthouse is an icon of the Mornington Peninsula. Still operating today using its original Chance Brothers First Order lens, the Cape Schanck Lighthouse is considered to be the ‘most original lighthouse in Australia’.
Tower Climb Lighthouse tours are run by The Lady of History Team and there is a Kiosk and Museum on site with lighthouse history, heritage buildings and spectacular views into Bass Strait. The Cape Schanck Lightstation allows visitors to recreate in their imaginations the life the lighthouse keepers of a bygone era. Guided tours take you up into the lighthouse and out onto the balcony.
Tickets: Adult $16 (15 years+), Child (3 to 14 years) $45 Family Ticket (2 Adults, 2 Children).
Tours run on weekends, school holidays and public holidays between 11am – 4pm with hours extended over summer months and entry to the Museum included.
For Tower Climb tours book online at www.trybooking.com – search Cape Schanck or pay by cash or card at the Kiosk building at the Red Brick House. There is a self guided tour to the Signal Tower Lookout.
