I’ll bet you didn’t even know I was gone!

Time.
20 years I’ve lived in Australia.
20 years of missed birthdays, weddings, funerals, drinks, shooting the shit..time.

So when the airfare i’d been looking at for later in the year was the same price as one leaving 12 hours later and it gets me there the night before my mom’s 77th birthday - I grabbed it.

A whirlwind ensues - off to Frankston for birthday gifts for that weekend, last minute items for my son leaving for camp, omg, my hair needs colouring…etc.

I know I’ve said it before - but it’s mentally challenging leaving one family for another. Which way is ‘welcome home’?
Both.

Nothing extra - my time in Philly was very ordinary - filled with breakfast catch-ups, one-on-ones with most of my nearest and dearest, comfy clothes and takeaway…but that’s what made it extraordinary.
It doesn’t have to be a whole song and dance. Just family, good friends, food, and conversation.
Tell me every little thing..and it’ll be like no time has passed. That’s how you know these relationships were built to last.

I’m sorry we forgot to take photos! We were too busy talking.

As an expat, and I think more and more as I get older, I relish the time spent with my peeps from life BA (before Australia).
In January, my friends came for a visit.
We did the touristy stuff..penguins, hot springs, Seawinds, but also spent my 49th birthday together AND those crazy kids got married on one of our local beaches.
Nothing over the top or complex..with the help of local celebrant @redcelebrancyfunerals our amazing photographer @yannicreative local florist @stembystems and after party at @theroyalhotelmornington we pulled together the most lovely of days - swipe to see (and hear).
I am not a religious gal, but my cup runneth over. These memories made for myself and my kiddos will stay with me for a long time.
