Turtley awesome school holiday fun at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium

Guests are introduced to Melbourne’s newest residents, Plugga, Chandler and Dave

A splashing good time is coming to SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium in celebration of its newest residents, sea turtles, Plugga, Chandler and Dave.

From March 27 to April 28, families can dive into an unforgettable adventure in the Night on the Reef exhibit and learn about these magnificent sea turtles whilst watching them glide through the water alongside sharks, rays and many more creatures that call the reef home.

Families can explore a world of discovery with a free activity booklet, packed with engaging games and educational turtle titbits, while passionate marine educators will deliver insightful talks about sea turtle conservation efforts and the incredible journeys of Chandler, Dave, and Plugga.

Kids can become certified Junior Turtle Rescuers, by popping on a lab coat and getting hands on at the Turtle Rescue Station. Using their knew found knowledge they’ll be able to identify injuries, check turtle x-rays, and help release rescued turtle toys into the pool!

An exclusive storybook about the heartwarming tale of Plugga the sea turtle, and specially crafted showbags will be available from the retail store, so families can take home a piece of their SEA LIFE Melbourne experience.

Guests can also discover a range of other marine and freshwater creatures at SEA LIFE Melbourne including sub-Antarctic penguins, a saltwater crocodile, thousands of fish species and more!

Guests can go BIG and double the family fun with the Melbourne Big Ticket, which gives families access to both SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium and LEGOLAND Discovery Centre.

No Food Shaming.

If you grew up in the ‘80s, ‘90s, or early 2000’s, chances are you were taught to see food through a moral lens: veggies were “good,” chocolate was “bad,” and fat was something to fear. That messaging stuck.

So now, when you reach for a bag of chips after a long day or say yes to dessert, a quiet voice in the back of your mind is likely to whisper: “You shouldn’t.” You feel like you’ve done something wrong – simply for eating something you enjoy. And here’s the thing: our kids are watching. They’re listening. The way we talk about food becomes the way they relate to it.

If you want to raise confident eaters, it’s time to let go of the “good” vs “bad” food narrative and allow your kids to enjoy food without guilt or shame. Let’s be real; some foods are more nutrient-dense than others. But that doesn’t mean that we need to rank them on a scale. Instead of calling food “good” or “bad”, try talking about how it fits into the bigger picture of what our bodies need.

Read on for a few ways to reframe the conversation:
