Traditional Knowledge • Cultural Knowledge • Connected Landscapes
World Wetlands Day is an international celebration honouring wetlands and the Traditional Knowledge that has cared for them for tens of thousands of years. Around the world, this year’s theme recognises the deep connection between Culture, Country and Knowledge — and the vital role wetlands play in biodiversity, climate resilience and water health.
At Coolart, we’re marking the occasion with a relaxed, immersive program that brings together art, science, culture, music and hands-on experiences across the Homestead and Wetlands.
We are proud to be presenting this year’s program in partnership with:
• Western Port Biosphere Foundation
• Currents of Practice
• Friends of Coolart
Currents of Practice Art Exhibition
24 January – 2 February
During Homestead opening hours
Artists will engage the 2026 theme through material knowledge passed across generations, embracing ecological observation, community craft, symbolism, memory and site-based research as varied expressions of traditional knowledge.
