“My niece from Canada is coming to stay with my husband and me for a few weeks at the end of June. We are hoping the MPK community can give us their recommendations of what they have found to be the best things to do with a 15 year old on the Peninsula in the middle of winter. Thanks”
Tree surfing and Peninsula Hot Springs definitely – snow forget it. It’s overpriced and so far away and at best it’s like Canadian spring skiing. I’m from Calgary and wouldn’t recommend it. I’d also do Luna Park and shopping and lunching on Chapel St. A footy game if she’s into sports. Fish and chips at the Portsea pub and a walk along Sorrento. If she’s keen, I’d do a fishing trip in the bay or Western Port. Coming from Inland Canada, the water has always been a highlight for me even in winter just to have a picnic and watch the waves and the seagulls. Koalas and kangaroos should be on the agenda too. The koala tree top walk on Philip Island is great for koala watching, but I imagine Healesville is probably even better. – Christina M
