Difficulty: Moderate
Age Range: 6-12
Duration: 30 mins
Approx cost: $19
Before you get started:
Read over the instructions below carefully before starting the project. Find a clear space to work on and wear a pair of clothes that can get a little dirty. Make sure you have all the right materials ready to use.
What you will need:
- Needle
- Scissors
- Chalk
- Head band
- Black felt
- Black thread
- Black fabric (suggest finding an old sheet from around the house)
- Hot glue gun (please ensure an adult is present for this part of the process)
Step 1: Fold one A4 piece of felt in half. Using chalk, mark a curve to form Dracula’s pointy collar.
Step 2: Grab your scissors, (we recommend you supervise your children while doing this step) and cut the felt by following the chalk outline you have drawn.
Step 3: Carefully fold the felt in half over the headband band. Once you have fold this over the head band, glue each side together to form a collar.
Step 4: For the cape, cut the black material to your preferred length. The cape should be long in length, and shorter in width. You can measure the height of your child if you want this to be personal to them.
*Tip: measure your child just above their ankle.
Step 5: Grab your needle and thread through your black thread. Hand sew the material to the bottom of the collar to create a cape – we recommend an adult manages this component.
Step 6: Fold over the top corners of the cape to create arm holes. Ensure the fold leaves a hole that is roughly 3 x the size of your arm.
Step 7: Secure the arm holes with a small stitch. Alternatively, you can use pins and hot glue gun the fabric while the cape is not being worn.
